Imagine the Mississippi State University of the future.
The very best way we know of conveying why Mississippi State launched State of the Future: The Mississippi State Campaign is for us to reflect on some of the “Faces of the Future” shown to the immediate right. These sons and daughters are representative of prospective students in major academic disciplines who are inspiring us to seek private gifts for the advancement of Mississippi State - for today and for future generations.
The State of the Future campaign provided outstanding students with the opportunity to study with teachers and researchers who, because of campaign support, are holders of endowed chairs and professorships. The campaign also provided scholarships and fellowships, which enable MSU to compete for the best and brightest students and to maintain its competitive academic position. Still other areas of the campaign provided funds for new and renovated facilities. Gifts for program enhancements and annual support given over the life of the campaign will impact the university in the coming years.
In December 2008, State of the Future capital campaign ended its successful run with more than $462 million in private gifts and pledges of future support. The campaign leaves a ripple effect on the entire university – its progress will impact generations of future students as well as the faculty and programs of the future.
The MSU Foundation sincerely thanks its "Faces of the Future" – those children who appeared in State of the Future campaign materials. Aubrey Claire Armstrong, Drew Brown, Khris Carr, Jack Costello, Marina Febel, Sophia Fabel, Noa Katherine Hardin, Porter Skelton, Rosa Webster and Isiah Williams – you and others like you our future!
